duck duck quail.

I post about things that show up at our door. And yes, it is kind of lame. But it turns out, this stuff really makes me laugh and sometimes makes my day. Its the little things in life that please me.
Friday night, I went out the door to take out the trash and found these little treasures right outside the door.

They nearly gave me a heart attack (i'm a leetle afraid of everything). But then they popped their heads up and I realized they were ducks! Our sprinklers pretty much flood our entire lawn, so they decided to take a nap in our lawnpond.

Later that night, I told Cole we had a black and brown duck in our yard. He totally didn't believe me that black ducks exist....until Sunday, they came back. Two things I loved about Sunday was that I prooved Cole WrOnG and we got to feed ducks in our own yard!

Is that cute or what????

After church, we went to the park and played some hoops (cole beat me like usual) and swung on swings and had just a loverly time. We wanted to go drive around the Trout Farm (doesn't that just sound eXciTinG???), but unfortunatly the gate was closed due to the sabbath. Luckily for Cole, it wasn't a wasted trip. He spotted this little guy:

To all of you and me it is just a bird. But, it is actually some kind of quail and I guess they are pretty rare around these parts? And he was really excited about it...so it gets a spotlight on our blog.

We had a beautiful Memorial Day.

Ok not so much.
Even though the weather sucked, we started a new tradition that I love. We faced the rain and took some flowers and a flag up to the cemetery to find a war veteran's grave that hadn't been visited. We found one from World War II that had died in 1981. I was suprised that we found one so fast. I think sometimes we forget about those who served so long ago and I was glad to be able to remember those who helped make this country what it is today. I truly am grateful for those who have served and are serving our country. I know I could NEVER do it, so I couldn't be more grateful for the men and women who voluntarily fight for our country.

Days like that make me so patriotic. I just feel like singing!!!! "Cause there ain't no doubt I love this laaaaaaaand....God bless the U S A!!!"
